Watching the Corporate Pro Bono Movement

Let’s face it. Pro bono work doesn’t always photograph well.  Eyeballs just don’t seem to gravitate toward images of nonprofit board service.  But, we’ve got proof that it can be inspirational. Nonprofit and business professionals working together to solve problems by sharing talents is amazing work that is changing the world every day.  As we know, tears flow, hugs happen and there are great stories to be told.

Takeaways from Pittsburgh: Starting a Program from the Ground-Up

Last week, the campaign took to Pittsburgh, PA where I was privileged enough to keynote at a morning meeting of the city’s Corporate Volunteer Council to introduce A Billion + Change and discuss starting a skills-based volunteer program from the ground up. Without providing a distinct template for the design of sustainable program, as each company has different capacity for such a venture, here are what I hope were the major takeaways from the discussion:
